Description
This small, elegant ornamental onion, native to the Italian Alps, is considered one of the most desirable Allium species. The nodding flower cluster comprises three to five bell-shaped, pink to purplish-pink flowers. After flowering, when the seed is formed, the flower head remains curved unlike A. narcissiflorum, in which the seed pods become erect. The leaves are slender and erect. A plant, occurring on calcareous soil, suitable for the rock garden. Intro: 1856.
