Intro: 1825. Known as Chinese chives and garlic chives. In China, Japan and from Southeast Asia to India, the leaves of this onion have been used through the centuries as an ingredient in salads. The leaves are narrow and flat on one side. The approximately 50 cm high stems feature white umbels consisting of many star-shaped flowers. The throats of the flowers are green. Each petal features a green vein.
