The dwarf form, Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' is native to Japan and stands out because of its beautiful yellow leaf colour, which is more intense in summer than in winter.
Hence the cv name 'Ogon' which, translated from Japanese, means yellow.
This hardy garden plant grows ideally in moist places and eventually produces beautiful large dense leaf clumps.
The plant is also easy to keep as a houseplant, provided it is always frequently moistened.
