Haemanthus deformis is a rarely offered South African bulbous plant belonging to the group of powdery brassicas. This species is characterised by 2 fairly large short-width leaves, which lie on the ground and from which, around December/January, an inflorescence develops from the centre. This is characterised by a rather short-stalked flat shape consisting of 2 separate bracts enclosing the many white flowers with upright yellow stamens, the edges of which are edged with a striking green margin. This species develops best in a humus soil to which a third of loose clay has been added. Overwintering temperature cool - at minimum 5 C. in a light slightly shaded place.
