Spanish bluebell, a dark blue selection. The first description of the wood hyacinth dates from 1601. The broad leaves are somewhat pendulous and ribbon-shaped. The round to 40 cm high flower stems are about one third occupied by many nodding, broad bell-shaped flowers that tolerate full sun, but show their flower colour optimally in a shaded spot. Excellent variety for naturalising. Origin: North Africa, Portugal and the western Mediterranean.
