Origin: Nepal to northern India (Himalayas). The bulb forms underground offshoots that can grow up to a metre long. New bulbs are formed on these stolons, so they can form an entire colony within a short time. The broad, lanceolate leaves are scattered along the vigorous flower stem. The flower cluster consists of up to four nodding, funnel-shaped, greenish-yellow flowers with a purplish-red interior. The sepals are widely spaced and strongly recurved at the apex.
