Description
Pineapple flower. Was introduced to Europe in 1878 by James Veitch & Sons. The semi-erect leaves have rippled margins. The purple-spotted flower stalk bears a spike of greenish-white flowers, each flower bearing purple-edged petals that attract bumblebees and bees. Mainly found in Drakensberg Mountains, Natal.
