Description
A robust beautiful flowering ginger-like here non-hardy plant native to the Himalayas.
The rhizomes should be potted immediately after receipt. They are pre-cultivated indoors in a bright spot to continue growing outdoors in a sunny, warm spot after mid-May, with intermittent repotting and regular fertilisation necessary to promote growth and flowering. The fragrant yellow flowers are in a dense cluster, with the long red stamens protruding remarkably far forward. They appear around September and are formed at the end of the leafy stems.
If desired, they can also be planted outdoors in the open ground, but should be overwintered before frost in a cool place indoors, as Dahlia tubers.
