Unlike most Hedychiums, this species is a ‘dwarf’ due to its compact growth habit, not growing much higher than about 50-60 cm.
Originally native to China (Yunnan), this species is cold-resistant down to -5C. and is therefore better grown in a spacious pot in nutrient-rich humus soil to facilitate overwintering in a frost-free, cool place.
Grown in a suitable spot in semi-shade, this still unknown species develops terminal racemes of fragrant white flowers on densely leafed shoots in autumn.
Regular repotting promotes the development of this beautiful evergreen species.
