Intro: 16th century. First described in 1813 when M. Vahl included it on a plant list of the Botanical Gardens in Copenhagen. It is actually a hybrid that carries the name of a species. Also known as the 'horned tulip'. The long and curiously shaped petals are red with yellow, often with a green glow on the outside. The anthers are brown.
